Lockdowns and Shutdowns: the Impact of the Pandemic on Media in Southeast Asia

Media Viability Research

2 August 2021

We all know the pandemic has been tough on media organisations, but the specifics often elude us especially in Southeast Asia.

The Public Media Alliance and the Asia Democracy Network teamed up to research the positive and negative consequences of lockdowns and COVID-19 restrictions. The project is supported by UNESCO and will analyse press freedom, safety and financial sustainability across the region.

Global Ground Media is part of the team of independent researchers. Specificall, we will research financial sustainability of media in ten countries. Are you a media exec, (freelance) journalist, or media development professional in Southeast Asia? Please fill in our questionnaire.
